Have you ever realized that all superheroes do not wear capes? Yes, they exist and you call them by various names; Abbo, Baba, Papa, Abba, Dad or in my case – Daddy. They do not reveal their super powers unless you are stuck somewhere, and are in trouble and here they come – Fathers (real superheroes) to the rescue!
It is a fact that we all love our mothers head over heels mainly because they are with us the whole time. We share our dreams, every day gossip and our deepest, darkest secrets with her. But how can we forget to honor the one person that is like a thread that holds all of us together? Yes, the father. He is the one who supports the family, the person who provides water to our dreams and shelter to our future. He sacrifices all he has just to ensure that we have a better life.
Fathers are our mentors, teachers, story-tellers, and saviors (when moms scold us). They are the guiding light whose love shows us the correct path. He is the only person you can look up to, whether you are seventeen or fifty, he always has your back.
June 18th is marked as Father’s Day, thanks to Ms. Sonora Louise Smart Dodd of Washington who came up with the idea for Father’s Day after hearing a Mother’s Day sermon in church and thought to celebrate and honor the compassion, love, and sacrifices of a father. She was raised by her father and wanted to highlight the crucial role a father plays in the life of children.
Here is a list of countries that celebrate Father’s Day with full zeal:
In Germany, it is called Vatertag (Father’s Day). It is also sometimes known as Männertag (or men’s day). Germans celebrate Father’s Day by organizing hikes and other gatherings—and making sure to be well-supplied with food and alcohol.
In China, Father’s Day was used to be celebrated on 8 August as the Chinese for eight is “ba”, while a colloquial word for father is “ba-ba” – so the eighth day of the eighth month sounds similar to “Daddy”. But since UK and USA celebrate it on June 18th, the day has been moved.
In Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal and Croatia Father’s Day is celebrated on March 19.
In Thailand, Father’s Day is celebrated on December 5th; people used to wear yellow and present their dads with a Canna flower. Now they have switched to wearing pink because of the King’s Rose colored jacket as his birthday falls on the same day.
In Mexico, Father’s Day is celebrated on third Sunday in June. Some people participate in the 21-kilometer race in Mexico City, the “Carrera Día del Padre 21K Bosque de Tlalpan.”
As Father’s Day is just around the corner, we at 24HOURS.PK have decided to share some of the best advice fathers of our diligent employees have taught them!
Let’s hear it from daddy’s little girls and boys!

“What I have learned from my father I have tried my best to teach that to my children too. He always taught me to follow principles in life. He always said, make principles and follow them, you’ll lead a perfect life.”
Marketing Department, 24HOURS.PK
“My father has focused on one thing; honesty. He has always advised me to speak the truth.”

“My father has given me the best advice about driving on the streets of Karachi. As I encountered 2, 3 accidents so he advised me to drive carefully on the road thinking that only I have sight and others are blind. So, I concentrate more while driving to avoid any major mishap.”
“If I’m allowed to fulfill his wish, I’ll send him to perform Hajj right away!”
Design Department, 24HOURS.PK
“A father gives you support on every step you take. You should always honor and respect them. When I was younger, I never missed anything, whatever I wanted I always got it. From the very beginning, my father realized that I was the talented child of the clan and I tried to prove him right. My business-like mind is because of my father. He taught me the basics of business work.”
“My father was an immense support to me and my family. After him, I want to support my family just like he did.”
Muhammad Umer Khan
Development Department, 24HOURS.PK
“Well, my father is against these days and hates to celebrate them. If someone dares to wish him Happy Father’s Day, I’m sure he’ll beat the shit out of them.
My father always says this: “Whoever praises you in front of your face and says good things about you in front of you is not your good friend. The ones who always tells you the truth and shows you your mistakes and praises you behind your back is your good friend. A best friend is one who will never say anything good in front of you.”
“My father loves to watch movies. I want to surprise my father one day with a brand new car and a home theater system.”
Content Department, 24HOURS.PK
“My father had taught me to be bold and have courage in all phases of my life. He never stops me from going anywhere as he has set certain boundaries for me and my brother and we know our limits.”
“He wants me to spend a day at Army Barracks. I wish I can fulfill his wish someday.”
Customer Services Department, 24HOURS.PK
“At that time period, we (all the siblings) were scared from our father, always thinking that either they’ll scold us or beat us. He is always focused on time management and punctuality and taught us the same. This task should be completed on this time. He always said to discuss and share our problems with him. He was very strict but with the passage of time, he has changed a lot. Now he is a chill pill.”
“He has a fear of traveling via the airplane. I want him overcome his fear and want to send him to Hajj or Umrah. The only hindrance we have is that he is not willing to travel in an airplane.”
Human Resources Department, 24HOURS.PK
“Since childhood, my father has taught me that if someone does wrong to you, never return the same behavior from your end. Always try to do good deeds with that person despite his/her misbehavior. He never allowed me to do wrong with any person. He himself practices the same thing and advises me to follow the same. He has struggled a lot for us and provided us with the best.”
“I wish I could cure his Diabetes.”
Chief Operating Officer, 24HOURS.PK
“The best advice my father gave me was of personal integrity. I try to keep myself transparent in all my relations.”
“He wanted to see me in a good position, I have struggled and tried to fulfill his wish and with a passage of time I have strived really hard to achieve it.”
“When I see myself as a father, honestly, I think I’m not a good father. Most of the time, I’m away from my children. But I’m very frank with them so they don’t hesitate in telling me anything or sharing their problems with me. I personally believe that there should be no barrier between father and his children. There should always be a friendly and an open relationship. Unfortunately, my relationship with my father was not friendly; therefore, I want my children to have a friendly relationship with me.”
No matter how old we grow, we will always be our father’s little babies. This Father’s Day, give your father a big hug as a token of appreciation, just to let them know that you really love him!
Happy Father’s Day from 24HOURS.PK
